Backes Nominated for Selke Trophy
Congratulations to David Backes of the St. Louis Blues on being named a finalist for the Selke Trophy. The Selke Trophy is given out each year to the NHL's top defensive forward.
While posting a team high 24 goals, 30 assists and 54 points, Backes had the highest average ice time per game among forwards (19 minutes 59 seconds) on a Blues club that allowed the fewest goals in the NHL by a wide margin.
Backes led St. Louis in faceoffs, blocked shots and had a +15 rating. Never afraid to throw his weight around, Backes also had a team high 226 hits.
