Congratulations to Henrik Lundqvist and Steven Stamkos for being nominated for this year's Hart Trophy. The Hart Trophy is given out each year to the MVP of the league.
Already established as one of the elite goaltenders in the league, Henrik Lundqvist took his game to another level this season. He had a career high 39 wins along with a 1.97 goals-against average and .930 save percentage, both personal bests. Throw in eight shutouts and there is no questioning who the Rangers MVP was this year.
Lundqvist also became the first goalie in NHL history to record 30 or more wins in his first seven seasons in the league. It is the first time since 2006-07 that a goaltender has finished in the top three in Hart Trophy voting.
Steven Stamkos left no doubt that he is the elite goal scorer in the league today. Stamkos' scored a career high 60 goals this season and became just the 20th player in league history to reach the exclusive club.
Stamkos also had 37 assists for a career best 97 points. 48 of Stamkos' 60 goals were scored at even strength this season, the highest total by any NHL player since 1993.
With his 60 goals, Stamkos also won his second Rocket Richard Trophy, given each year to the player who has the most goals.
