University of Minnesota Extends Partnership with Bauer Hockey

Multi-Year Agreement Continues Gophers' Exclusive Use of BAUER Equipment On Ice

Bauer Hockey, Inc., the world's leading manufacturer of ice hockey equipment, announced today that it has extended its agreement with the University of Minnesota's hockey program as the exclusive equipment provider for the men's and women's Division I hockey teams. The five-year agreement outfits the Gophers exclusively in BAUER equipment on ice, including helmets, sticks and gloves.

"We're proud to continue our partnership with such an authentic and innovative brand that we know delivers top-quality products year after year," said Norwood Teague, Director of Athletics for the University of Minnesota. "We are excited to continue this important partnership."

The men's hockey team is the defending regular season Big Ten Conference champion and is the current NCAA Championship runner-up, and the women's program is the defending Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) champion and current NCAA Championship runner-up. Combined, the men's and women's programs have earned nine NCAA national championships and six of the school's student-athletes have earned the Hobey Baker Award and the Patty Kazmaier Award, respectively, as the most outstanding collegiate hockey player.

"We're excited that the University of Minnesota chose to extend our agreement and continue to wear BAUER equipment," said Rich Wuerthele, Executive Vice President of Bauer Hockey. "Minnesota is a great partner school for us because of its legendary and accomplished hockey program, and we're proud to play even a small part in its success by providing the teams with the world's best equipment."

BAUER is the No. 1 global hockey brand and the top brand of choice in the NCAA and National Hockey League. Approximately two-thirds of NCAA teams have exclusive equipment agreements with Bauer Hockey, including 14 of the last 20 teams to make the men's Frozen Four.

Minnesota is scheduled to open its men's hockey season on October 4, while the women's team is scheduled to begin on October 3. For more information, go to www.gophersports.com.
