Congratulations to Patrick Kane on being named a finalist for the 2013 Lady Byng Memorial Trophy! The Lady Byng Trophy is awarded to the player that 'exhibits the best type of sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct combined with a high standard of playing ability'. Kane had 23 goals, 32 assists and a team high 55 assists. He also had just eight penalty minutes this season despite averaging 20:03 of ice time per game.

Toews Named A Selke Finalist

The Selke Trophy is awarded to the NHL's top defensive forward as voted by the Professional Hockey Writers Association. Toews had 23 goals, 25 assists and 48 points this season. He also finished the season tied for the league lead with 56 takeaways and had a +28 rating.

Congratulations to Alex Ovechkin on being named a finalist for the Hart Trophy and the Ted Lindsay Award. The Hart Trophy is given out each year to the "player adjudged to be the most valuable to his team." The Ted Lindsay Award is given out each year to the most outstanding player in the NHL. Ovechkin had a league high 32 goals this season, along with 24 assists for a team high 56 points. In his final 29 games, Ovechkin had 22 goals and 41 points, and helped the Capitals go 20-7-2 to reach the postseason.

Lundqvist Named Vezina Finalist

Lundqvist, who won the award last season, finished the regular season with a league high 24 wins, a 2.05 GAA and a .926 save percentage. This is the fifth time that Lundqvist has been nominated for the Vezina.

Congratulations to Alex Ovechkin, Brian Elliott and Henrik Lundqvist on being named the NHL's Stars of the Week. Ovechkin, who was named the first star, had seven goals and nine points in the Capitals four games. Ovechkin is tied for the league lead in goals with 26. As the second star of the week, Elliott posted a 3-0-0 record, 1.45 goals-against average and a .952 save percentage. Finally, Lundqvist had a 3-0-1 record with a 1.22 goals-against average and a .962 save percentage.

'Strongest Link' Campaign Winners Met Lundqvist, Ovechkin Bauer Hockey, Inc., the world's leading manufacturer of ice hockey equipment, announced today the winners of its 'Strongest Link' initiative, a European-specific campaign searching for the unsung heroes of hockey who make it possible for players to enjoy the sport. Submissions to this contest, which ran in seven countries, ranged from teammates and siblings to grandparents and coaches. This initiative was led by 2012 Vezina Trophy recipient Henrik Lundqvist of the New York Rangers and two-time Hart Memorial Trophy recipient Alex Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals. "My unsung hero is my brother Joel," Lundqvist said. "As I'm sure it was for all of the kids who participated in this contest, it was a tough choice for me because so many people played an important and supportive role throughout my career. We always looked out for each other, and I know I wouldn't be where I am today without him." In addition to receiving head-to-toe Bauer Hockey equipment, the winners and their unsung hero received an all-expense paid trip, courtesy of Bauer Hockey, to meet Lundqvist and Ovechkin for the game on March 24. "It was a great experience for me to be part of this program and meet these special people from around the world," said Ovechkin. "For me it was my family who supported me and it was nice that so many of the winners brought their family to New York as part of this cool Bauer weekend. A digital and retail campaign, the 'Strongest Link' search for unsung heroes targeted hockey communities in Sweden, Finland, Germany, Slovakia, Russia, Switzerland and the Czech Republic. The initiative ran in these seven countries for six weeks, ending October 1, 2012.
